State Treasurer

Worthy Brothers all, Norma and I pray that this article reaches you in good health. This month I would like to discuss a change in the way we send you invoices for Per-Capita, Insurance, Christmas Cards and anything else that the State Council might bill you for.

As the State Treasurer, it is my duty to keep accurate accounting of your money and to be a good steward of it in the spending of it. The other State Officers share the same responsibility as it relates to being good stewards as well. Recently, I noticed that it cost us a fair amount of money to mail the invoices to the 135 councils in our state. Additionally, it cost to send invoices for KCIC (Keep Christ in Christmas Cards) for the Squires. Added to this was the need to occasionally send 2nd notices when we for one reason or another forget to mail a check.

With that said, I tried using email to bill for the KCIC process. To my delight we had approximately 98% success. The invoice is sent via email to the GK and the FS of the council. This is the same process but there is no cost for postage. Also, if there is an email issue we know it within minutes because it bounces back to me or the State Secretary and we can make a phone call to get it corrected. The US Mail can take as much as 30 days to get returned to the State Secretary to let us know that the address is no longer valid. We then have to run down the individual to get the new information because the phone number is often disconnected. Once the information is obtained, it then needs to be updated on the state website.

Those councils that are receiving a 2nd notice for Per-Capita, Insurance and/or KCIC will notice that they came via email. When the Per-Capita bills go out again for the 2nd half of the year they will come via email. Brothers, we are moving forward with technology and at the same time we are saving a great deal of your funds so that we can do more for you and those that we take care of our responsibilities according to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

Should you have any questions or concerns please drop me a note at statetreasurer@kofcnc.org. May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may God be with you.

Dan and Norma Lange
